Bourbon and Pineapple Cocktail

The Bourbon and Pineapple (BAP) is a whiskey pineapple cocktail. This drink follows the model of a whiskey sour, minus the lemon juice. An airy and invigorating libation with a punch.

Trying to use what we have in the house I asked my wife what cocktail I should make this week. Her response as she stares at three random pineapples on our island, use a pineapple!

Why we have three pineapples I am not sure, but it turned into a great cocktail.

I found several whiskey pineapple sour recipes that do all use lemon juice but I did not have any lemons. Then I flashed back to a cocktail Garrison Brothers made at their Balmorhea Pool Party. They used watermelon, but it was the inspiration. Well, that and my wife said to use a pineapple.

The Bourbon and Pineapple Cocktail

The bourbon and pineapple cocktail uses fresh pineapples, jalapenos, simple syrup, and bourbon. Adjust the number of jalapenos slices to control the amount of spice in the drink. One slice almost no hint but five slices will give it a good ole Texas kick!

For this drink, I used Garrison Brothers Small Batch Bourbon. Garrison Brothers is a destination worthy of the trip. Their ranch is home to their award-winning distillery. In fact, their small-batch recently won the Gold Buckle for best grain to glass bourbon at the Texas Whiskey Festival.

Their small-batch bourbon is amber-crimson like a Texas sunset, darker, richer, and fuller than almost any other bourbon on the market. Meaning it can hold up to the pineapple and jalapenos.

Ingredients

  • 2.25 oz Bourbon

  • .25 oz Simple Syrup

  • 3 Slices Fresh Pineapple

  • 2 to 5 Slices of Fresh Jalapeno

How to make the bourbon and pineapple cocktail

In a shaker add the pineapple and jalapeno. Muddle well and then muddle some more. Add ice, bourbon, and simple syrup. Shake well to mix and chill. Strain into a glass with ice.
