Beggars Banquet
Light and drinkable. Bourbon present with a creamy froth. Rounded by a hint of syrup sweetness. These are not what I would have thought when I stumbled upon the beggars banquet on liquor.com.
This cocktail is better described as a beer-tail. The base is a lager while still using plenty of bourbon in the mix. The simplicity, endless combinations, and drinkability will make this a favorite.
Don’t be fooled, this beggars banquet packs a punch.
As always we altered the recipe a bit. For ours, we are using Ranger Creeks .36 Bourbon and Pabst Blue Ribbon. For those knocking our choice of PBR at the moment, get over your self. Yes, you can use any beer you want. One of your favorite craft beers might make a phenomenally interesting cocktail. You should try it. We want you to try it and tell us about it.
Ranger Creek Brewing and Distilling is one of the first brewstilleries in Texas. They are brewing both beers and fine grain to glass Texas Whiskey. Their three core products are their .36 Bourbon, .44 Rye, and Rimfire Single Malt. As you have noticed there is a theme. Their name is in honor of a creek the famous Texas Rangers gathered and watched. How do you get more Texas than this?
Their .36 Bourbon that we are using is a straight bourbon, meaning it has aged at least two years and is bottled at 96 proof. The mashbill is 70% corn, 16% rye, and 14% malted barley. The high proof and sweetness from the corn are perfect for this cocktail.

Ingredients
2.25 oz bourbon
.75 oz maple syrup
.25 oz lemon juice
5 oz chilled lager beer
How to make the Beggars Banquet
Add the bourbon, maple syrup, and lemon juice to a glass and stir. Add the ice and lager and stir. The orange wheel garnish is optional.
Some recipes we found did use bitters, but I don’t think you need them.
