Treaty Oak Mint Julep
The Treaty Oak Mint Julep should be appreciated all summer long. It is a brisk, invigorating, delicious cocktail that screams summer.
The mint julep started as a southern summer drink but is best known as the Kentucky Derby’s signature drink. This bourbon cocktail uses four ingredients mint, bourbon, simple syrup, and crushed ice. Some recipes call for powdered sugar and water. Often served in silver or pewter cups, but any cup will work. Find the one that suits your needs.
The term “julep” is generally defined as a sweet drink, but the mint and bourbon help balance out the sweetness. There are many great Texas Bourbons available for you to choose from. Since bourbon is the primary liquid in the drink, you’ll want to use a high-quality bourbon you know you love.
We choose Treaty Oak’s Ghost Hill Bourbon for its mellow dark fruit, and oak flavors and spicy finish. The Ghost Hill Bourbon is a genuine grain to glass bourbon, aged 2 years and bottled on-site at Treaty Oak.
