3-Chords Whiskey Drink
Like a musician riffing, we made up a whiskey drink of our own. In honor of Still Austin Whiskey Co. release of their straight Texas Bourbon, the musician we are calling it 3-Chords.
Ok, technically, it has 4 ingredients, but 3-Chords sounds better.

Their bourbon has hints of dark fruits, vanilla, and caramels before the spicy rye finish. The goal is to highlight the fruit notes without masking the excellent taste of the bourbon.
After rummaging through our mixer cabinets, we settled on using Benedictine and Chambord. Benedictine is an herbal liqueur with twenty-seven flowers, berries, herbs, roots, and spices. Chambord is a black raspberry liqueur.
We did try a couple of variations and found that a little goes a long way. It does not take much of each liqueur to mask the bourbon flavor. Below is what we settled on to bring out the palate’s fruits and still taste the whiskey. The combination does curb the spicy finish.
Ingredients for the 3-Chords whiskey drink
2.25 oz Still Austin Whiskey Co. Texas Straight Bourbon
.25 oz Benedictine
.25 oz Chambord
3 to 4 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
