Clover Whiskey Club

The clover club is a gin cocktail that pre-dates prohibition. Named for the Philadelphia men’s club of the same name. Which met in the Bellevue-Stratford Hotel on South Broad Street. It sounded interesting, so we decided to make it a whiskey drink.

Our Clover Whiskey Club

Naturally, we changed things up a bit. We swapped the gin for bourbon, use less lemon, and Chambord instead of raspberry syrup.

We chose Milam & Greene’s Triple Cask Bourbon for its range of flavors. There is a little sweet, oak tannin, fruit, and spice. All things needed to hold its own against the lemon juice and Chambord.

The addition of the egg white is to provide a beautiful foamy top and creaminess to the cocktail.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon

  • .5 oz lemon juice

  • .5 oz simple syrup

  • 1 dash of Chambord

  • 1 egg white
