Mr. Evans
Our friends at Oak & Eden gave us the Mr. Evans recipe they designed for their Bourbon & Vine release.
If you are not familiar with Bourbon & Vine, you should be. Oak & Eden focuses on the in-bottle finishing of fine whiskey. What is that, you ask? In-bottle finishing is a unique technique of placing a 5″ toasted or charred oak spire in the bottle. Each spire provides a different flavor characteristic. Think of it as cask finishing.
The bourbon & vine use a medium toasted french oak spire steeped in Marker Cellars cabernet. Creating a bourbon rich with dark red fruits that compliment the vanilla and caramel.
To be honest, we did alter their recipe. We added more bourbon and used less lemon juice.

How to make the wine syrup
This is a simple syrup with wine. Use a 1:1 ration of wine to sugar. You can place in a pot over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves for large batches. For small batches, I use a microwaveable dish and use powdered sugar. Combine the red wine & sugar, microwave for 10 seconds, then stir until sugar dissolves.
Ingredients
2.25 oz Bourbon & Vine
.75 oz wine syrup
.5 oz lemon juice
1 egg white
